Services
Not sure where to start? Behind Route to Explore is someone who's spent a lifetime exploring Puerto Rico, and years traveling through many other countries, enough to know what a traveler actually needs on the road. Ask me about the places I love and I'll gladly tell you: beaches, food, nature, all of it. Where you go and how your day is built is always yours to decide, every stop, how many, and how long you stay at each one.
Short day
(4 hours)
Four hours reserved for you. To give you a sense of what that covers: the metro area, or somewhere a comparable drive away, like Piñones or Loíza.
Enough for a first look at the island at your own pace, with stops you choose along the region.
Up to 6 passengers
$203*
Half day
(6 hours)
Six hours reserved for you. Enough for a destination at the distance of Luquillo or Fajardo, with time to settle in once you're there rather than pass through.
â
Up to 6 passengers
$275*
Full Day
(8 hours)
Eight hours reserved for you. Room for somewhere as far out as Ponce or Cayey, or anywhere else a similar drive away, without watching the clock.
â
Up to 6 passengers
$375*
Extended day
(10 hours)
Ten hours reserved for you. Suited to plans at the far end of the island, a distance like Aguadilla or Cabo Rojo, where the drive takes real time in each direction.
â

Up to 6 passengers
$485*
â
Need extra time? Additional hours available at $55*/hour
(up to 12 hours max).
â
Think of the places above as distance markers, not destinations set in stone.
Your day goes where you'd like it to go,
I'm just here to make sure you've reserved enough time to enjoy it without rushing.
Tell me what you're picturing, and I'll point you to the block that fits.
The amount you see is the amount you pay. Nothing gets added along the way.
* Two services, one amount. Full details under What does the amount include?
â
How your reserved
time works?
This isn't a tour, it's VIP Private Transportation, and the day belongs to you.Every stop, every decision, every moment of it is yours to make.
Once you're at your destination, the time there is yours alone, your privacy, your space, your pace.
I stay nearby, ready for whenever you're set to continue.
I'm happy to share a local recommendation along the way, though where you go and what you do there is always your call.
Entrance fees, tickets, or any costs at your destinations are not included and are the responsibility of each guest.
â
Your time is exclusively yours. Once your day starts, I'm dedicated to you for the whole of it , no juggling other trips or clients in between.
Whenever you're ready to head to the next stop, I'm ready too.No problem at all , just keep in mind your reserved time covers the whole day, including my trip back to San Juan.
For example: three hours at your destination plus a two-hour return adds up to five hours. When I see your itinerary heading past your block, I'll let you know what's left and what the next block up would cover,
and we go from what you'd still like to do, not from the clock. From there it's your call: move up to the block
that fits the rest of your day, or head to your drop-off and close the day with nothing extra.
On days when the time gets there before we've talked, the block covering your total time is what applies.
And if the road is what holds us up on the way back, an accident, a closure, weather that makes driving unsafe,
your booking stands as reserved. That's not your time, and I won't rush a return to beat a clock.
â
Within the area your day is already covering, absolutely, that's the whole idea.
Add a stop, skip one, linger somewhere longer than you planned.
The only thing that doesn't fit is crossing to the far side of the island mid-day: if you're out east and somethingin the southwest comes to mind, that's a whole other day I'd love to plan with you.
Stops add time, so I keep an eye on the clock while you enjoy your day.
When I see us heading past your block I'll let you know and what the extra would come to.
And on the days we're apart or things simply move faster than expected the tier that matches your totaltime is what applies, same structure either way, so nothing lands as a surprise.
This is part of my concierge service. Need something along the way, ice, sunscreen, anything you forgot?
If it's before we arrive, we can simply stop together. And if you've already settled in and something comes up,no need to leave your spot: I'll go grab it myself, cover the cost upfront, and bring you back the receipt along with your
exact change. You simply reimburse the amount shown.
This covers up to $30 in purchases over the course of your day, tax included , for anything beyond that,
just let me know and we'll figure out the best way to handle it.
Errands take time like anything else, so we'll usually fold them into a stop you're already making.
Two services, billed as two: the private transportation, at the hourly rate set by the
Bureau of Transportation and Other Public Services, and my concierge service on its own.
The official metered fare and transportation without the concierge are also offered,
arranged directly with me by e-mail at contact@routetoexplore.com.
What the blocks above cover: everything on the road, so there's no adding up receipts at the end of the day.
Waiting time while you're off enjoying a stop is covered, and unexpected traffic on
the way back doesn't change what you pay. And the concierge side is there all day, something picked
up while you stay where you are, a parking spot sorted out so you're dropped right at the door.
â
Plans change. You can cancel or move your booking from "Manage your booking" at the bottom of this page, signing in with the same e-mail you used to book. If you'd rather, write to me at contact@routetoexplore.com and we'll sort it out.
Cancel 24 hours or more ahead and I'll refund your deposit, less the payment platform's fee, which they keep regardless. Inside 24 hours the deposit isn't refundable, since the day was held for you and closed to anyone else. Refunds are processed within 7 business days; how soon it shows up on your statement depends on your bank.
If you'd rather not lose the day altogether, you can move it to another date within the following week, subject to availability. And if I'm ever the one who has to cancel, you get everything back.
â
â
Of course. Shorter rides work well around the metro area and the east side up to Ceiba.
These I coordinate personally ,send me a message through the contact form below with what you
have in mindand let's see what we can put together.
â
â
El Yunque National Forest is federally protected,
entry requires a special authorization issued by the National Forest Service to a very limited number of operators,
and that includes trails inside the forest boundary, like Angelito Trail.
Going in without that authorization risks a fine for the vehicle and leaves you exposed to being turned backat the checkpoint, in an area with little cell signal and roads that aren't safe to walk.
Exploring El Yunque usually takes a full day on its own, so my recommendation is to rent acar just for that adventure.
And once you're ready to explore the rest of the East Luquillo's beaches,
Fajardo, and so many hidden gems, I'd love to be the one to take you there.
â
Just ask. Tell me what you're picturing and I'll help you find the block that fits.
